Includes updates of classic sides such as Corinne, Corinna and Shake, Rattle And Roll plus a couple of bonus live cuts not on the original LP recorded in Carnegie Hall in 1970.

CDCHM1395 Otis Spann: Sweet Giant Of The Blues. The final recording session of leading Chicago blues pianist prior to his untimely death in 1970. Produced by Bob Thiele, this has Otis supported by some top West Coast musicians on 8 tracks and is presented here on CD for the first time.

BCD16629AH Reverend Robert Wilkins: Prodigal Son. Rarely heard rediscovery sides from the 1960s recorded for Piedmont and Biograph, beautifully re-mastered and restored. One of the very best pre-war country bluesman to find a late-flowering audience, Wilkins had, in the intervening years, become a preacher and would now only sing religious songs, eschewing the blues sides he had recorded in the 1930s. This does however include a corking version of Prodigal Son, a title later made famous by the Rolling Stones (initially unacknowledged) cover on their Beggars Banquet album. 13 tracks of the highest order plus the usual stunning Bear Family booklet , including notes from Dick Spottswood.

BLM0287 Leo Welch: Sabougla Voices. Debut album recorded at the age of 82 from North Mississippi Hill country blues guitarist and gospel evangelist. The all-religious songs are framed in a range of settings -  from electric juke joint boogie, solo acoustic bottleneck guitar, small call and response vocal support - but, whatever the musical context, Leo’s rough and ragged vocals shine out throughout. Charming and stunning in equal measures.

BG2420 Hans Theessink: 65 Birthday Bash. Recorded at The Metropol in Vienna on April 5th 2013, this is an atmospheric celebration of the wizard guitarists 65th birthday featuring some live favourites in the company of friends and musical collaborators.

A rising star of jazz bringing to bear Afro-beat influences while clearly referencing a musical debt to Lee Morgan, Clifford Brown and Miles Davis.
