This is an unusual one, a Tex-California blues band with one foot in TexMex, one foot in New Orleans and one foot in California (if you know what I mean) kinda like Los Lobos with attitude. Three veterans of California's Chicano music scene teamed up with blues guitarist Kid Ramos for a CD full of stompin' good stuff - a buncha tough blues, Huey Smith songs, a Santiago Jimenez accordion classic, a cracking re-make of Rockin' Sidney's "You Ain't Nothing But Fine", a few crazy Tex-Mex rave-ups and a Clifton Chenier tune. Eclectic stuff eh? But I tell you what, it's great. If you like Los Lobos, Fabulous Thunderbirds, and the Blasters, you'll love this.
